Is it normal for the new machine to emit a slight smell and have a certain odor when it is first used?
It is normal for new cookers to have slight odor or faint smoke during first use. This is caused by volatilization of protective insulating materials. The smell will disappear after several uses and is not a quality defect.
Does it make a slight buzzing sound when heated?

Slight warmth on the housing during working is normal heat dissipation, which is safe.
